The sale of a massive figolla, shaped like a lamb and measuring 2.2 metres by one metre, has raised €1,620 in aid of Puttinu Cares in Gozo.

The figolla was prepared by David’s Bakery in Gozo on the initiative of Arkadia Marketing Ltd. Puttinu is an organisation which helps cancer patients.

The figolla was made of 70 kilogrammes of pastry, 105 kilogrammes of pure almonds and five kilogrammes of icing and decorations. It cost David’s Bakery €600 and the traditional Easter pastry was donated to Puttinu Cares.

David and his sons, Manuel and Mark Mercieca, spent 20 hours preparing and cooking it.

Puttinu Cares recently built a block of apartments in Sutton, London to offer free accommodation to cancer patients and their relatives.
