The Government will be consulting local councils regarding initiatives for the management of parks and afforestation.

During a visit to the National Park at Ta’ Qali, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said he wanted to ensure that the projects for 2013-2016 were implemented in a professional way.

He added that all that had been done well would be maintained, while anything which needed change would be modified accordingly.

Mr Brincat said operational issues at the Marsascala Family Park would be addressed.

He has also set up an ad hoc consultation committee regarding the mapping out of a new strategy in afforestation.
