If it is not already there, may I suggest the setting up of an award for the most sublime idea ever to grace the mind of a Maltese person.
The first person who should be honoured must without any doubt be the individual or team who came up with the design of the pavements in our towns and villagers. The proponents would surely be the people who unfortunately use walking aides or wheelchairs or whoever had an accident walking on these pavements. Notwithstanding their “ups and downs”, these pavements, besides being a very good source of work to hospitals and clinics, proved to be the “downfall” of many.
The motivation on the trophy (which should be made of unbreakable material) should read: It is less dangerous to walk in the middle of the road than on our pavements.
