The aquaculture industry’s gross output last year increased by €0.5 million over 2012 to reach €98.1 million.
Meanwhile, however, its gross value added was down by 34.1 per cent from €12.6 million to €8.3 million, according to data issued by the National Statistics Office.
The volume of fish sold by fish farms amounted to 9,077 tonnes, an increase of nearly a third over the preceding year. However, the average price of fresh fish sold declined by 1.7 per cent.
