Spazju Kreattiv presents a new look at Santa and his merry elves this week in keeping with the festive spirit.

Fil-Ħemda tal-Lejl (In the silence of the night) is a story about Christmas, innocence, hundreds and hundreds of letters, wish lists, elves and a glaring deadline.

On Christmas Eve, a number of elves are chosen by Father Christmas to work at Santa’s Workshop, making toys to be distributed to children around the world. However, not all children behave properly. Some are naughty and others are quiet. There are also elves who behave and others who just want to eat and wander about.

Meanwhile, Father Christmas goes round his workshop to see what they are doing because he has a plan to reward the elf of the year. The elves themselves need some help but who is going to come to their aid? And will they manage to get all the presents and toys ready on time? This one-hour play in Maltese is written by Paul Ellul and directed by Tiziana Calleja, with musical direction by Abigail Brown. It is suitable for children of all ages.

■ Fil-Ħemda tal-Lejl is playing at St James Cavalier in Valletta tomorrow, Thursday and Friday and again on December 27, 28 and 30 at 8pm. For more information and tickets, visit http://kreattivita.org .
