More passengers passed through Malta International Airport in August than in any other month on record.

MIA’s monthly report revealed that a staggering 507,646 passengers made their way through the arrivals and departures halls last month.

CEO Markus Klaushofer put the record-beating performance mainly down to the 11 per cent increase in seat capacity as a direct result of MIA’s efforts to provide more routes for passengers.

The majority of passengers – 123,580 – were British, followed by 96,436 Italians, and 69,654 Germans.
