Accordionist Cleve Zammit has received the Sir James Anderton Award from the British College of Accordionists/Leicester School of Music.

This is an annual award given to the accordionist who obtains the highest mark in the Grade 6 practical examination, which is taken by students from all over the world.

A Maltese candidate has not won the award since 2006.

Zammit will feature as a soloist at the BCA/LSM presentation concerts in October.

He is a student of Marthese Busuttil Cassar, a qualified accordion teacher for the past 36 years. She is the conductor of the Santa Maria Accordion Band, the only one of its kind in Malta.
