The Government has laid stress on the need to both boost tourism and to encourage more foreign investment, yet Enemalta seems to be doing its best to sabotage these goals. Over the last three days we in Victoria have suffered six power cuts. In other words the power supply has failed, on average, every 12 hours. There have been no explanations in the press and it seems clear that Enemalta’s engineers do not have a clue on how to correct the fault. Many Third World countries would be ashamed of such an abysmal record.
The minster responsible for Enemalta should look into the circumstances of this sorry episode and, perhaps, direct that affected customers be given a rebate on their meter rental since it is difficult to justify such a charge when the supply is so frequently interrupted.
