The Armed Forces of Malta Band will this evening be performing at a charity concert in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

Among others, the concert will feature solo pieces such as the Tuba Concerto by Edward Gregson, an arrangement of The Carnival of Venice for trumpet and the aria Largo al Factotum from Rossini’s opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

Tenor Georg Zammit will be singing the aria Serenata D’Arlecchino from Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci. The corps of drums will perform military marches and play the joyful piece The Two Imps. The band will also perform the Overture Raymond by Ambroise Thomas, followed by Hungarian Dances No. 5 and No. 6.

For the first time, they will perform Joseph Sammut’s Song Without Words Op. 66. Other pieces will feature American composers George Gershwin and Duke Ellington.
