Da Rocco, the recently-opened trattoria in Marsascala, is run by Rocco Festari and his wife Erica.

Festari’s passion for food and cooking is inherited from his Roman mother who used to prepare daily meals for the family and for special occasions.

Festari is very faithful to his Roman roots. Specialities of the house include signature pasta dishes, including spaghetti alla carbonara, paccheri cacio e pepe and spaghetti ricci. For main course Festari offers trippa alla Romana (tripe cooked in a tomato and pecorino Romano sauce) and coda alla vacinara (stew of ox tail or veal tail, celery, tomato and onions).

Pizza is also on the menu, along with fish and meat dishes.

Desserts are homemade, by an Italian friend.

Occasionally, Festari organises Serate Romane – evenings of typical Roman food and music.

Da Rocco is open Tuesday to Sunday at Level 1, Langustini complex, St Thomas Bay Road, Marsascala.
