Singer/dancer Melanie Zammit, 21, of Victoria, recently completed a one-year higher diploma course in contemporary music performance (specialising in vocals) at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, UK.

The course included ear training, sight reading, transcribing, technical and stylistic methods, song writing, popular music history and business lessons.

It also consisted of weekly workshops where Zammit had to perform in a theatre, accompanied by a live band that she had never rehearsed with before.

Zammit, whose attendance was made possible through the Malta Arts Scholarships Scheme, is also a graduate of Leicester College of Performing Arts after she completed a three-year course in musical theatre.

Zammit will be giving dancing and singing lessons at the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria, starting tomorrow.
