My recent experience has compelled me to put in writing my heartfelt thanks for the outstanding treatment I received from the medical services in Malta.

During my annual holiday in Gozo, I experienced severe heart problems and was rushed to Gozo General Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Mater Dei Hospital for an operation.

I can say, without reservation, that the whole experience could not have been handled any better. Treatment, especially at Gozo, was exceptional. Nadine Delicata, CEO and Simone Cini, head of department (CCU), are to be congratulated for the highly professional teams they administer, giving treatment and care that are second to none.

I would like to thank all of them formally for their dedication and compliment the hospital for the quality and service of the people who work there.

The surgical team lost no time in performing a very successful coronary angiogram with minimum of fuss. In their most capable hands, I felt reassured and relaxed throughout.

My very special thanks must go to Gino Camilleri, of Fontana, for realising I was in difficulty in the first instance and for ‘taking charge’ and rushing me immediately to Gozo General Hospital. His prompt action was critical in ensuring a successful outcome and his support during and after my crisis was invaluable.

We have spent our annual holiday in Gozo for the past 23 years and now we know why. The concern, comfort and help afforded by our friends on this beautiful island of Gozo were very special and deeply appreciated.
