Time has taught us the alternative and electronic musical output of the 1980s were essential in encouraging the crossover mentality that had already reared its head the previous decade, pushing it further to expand in various directions that would serve as foundations for a number of the myriad genres that have evolved over the years.
The collective influence of that decade’s musical protagonists on the sounds – rock, alternative, electronic, pop and otherwise – that evolved in the decades that followed, flies in the face of those dismissing the 1980s as the most musically uninspired decade of all.
This is essentially what the event A Critical Mass, that is being staged at Coach and Horses on Friday, is about – bringing together a mixture of the more familiar tunes from the 1980s alternative and electronic scene with lesser-known album tracks, B-sides and even a few obscure releases
Playlists will be selected by Joseph Felice and Michael Bugeja.
Doors open at 9.30 p.m. and entrance is free.
