During a recent Campus FM programme, one of the participants, in reference to LGBT communities, said that the Church should not impose its doctrine but propose it.

I believe that indeed the Church is there to propose its values and beliefs. However, while fully respecting the rights of the LGBT communities, as well as empathising with separated couples, no one can minimise the importance of the family model with mother and father figures, as well as a lasting marriage as being ideal for children and society.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca recently expressed solidarity with those children who are compelled to choose with whom to spend Christmas as a consequence of a failed marriage.

A united family is one of the many proposals of the Church as is the practice of forgiveness.

Christmas reminds us of the great love of Jesus who became man to save us and be close to us within the Holy Family – our perfect model.
