A total of 85 trappers have been found guilty of illegal bird trapping this year up to October, it was revealed in Parliament yesterday.

Giving information in reply to a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Michael Falzon, Justice Minister Chris Said said 83 persons had been arraigned in Malta by the Administrative and Law Enforcement police. Sixty-seven of them were found guilty.

On Gozo, the number of arraignments reached 25, with 18 convictions. The fines, at €400 each trapper, amounted to €26,800 in Malta. In Gozo, the total was €6,311.47.
