The Gozo ferry made fewer trips last year when compared to 2010 but carried more passengers and cars, according to the National Statistics Office.
The number of trips dropped by 147 to stand at 19,861 last year while commuters increased by 93,457 passengers, exceeding 4.1 million in 2011. The number of vehicles carried on the ferry last year grew by 11,906, totalling more than 1.1 million.
August maintained the trend experienced in previous years with the biggest number of trips in a month being operated – 1,968, or 9.9 per cent of total trips.
