The Housing Authority has 298 pending applications by people considered as homeless, Social Security Minister Marie-Louise Coleiro-Preca said in reply to a parliamentary question today.

The definition of 'homeless' consists of people who:

Currently live in institutes and shelters;

Those currently imprisoned.

Those facing eviction by orders of their landlords or the banks;

Those undergoing rehabilitation who have nowehere to go back to and those living 'on tolerance'
