The first edition of the Malta Beneteau Cup, organised by BJ Marine in collaboration with the Royal Malta Yacht Club, has attracted 25 entries. The two-day event will be held between Saturday and Sunday and include both Oceanis and First models.

The Oceanis range is an innovative design with a comfortable interior and very easy to sail. On the other hand, the First range focuses on fast cruising with most of the models made by top designer Bruce Farr.

The race, depending on the wind conditions, takes participants around Comino on Saturday and around the Mellieha fish farms on Sunday. The start of both races will be held close to the Sliema seafront.

Alfred Manduca, of BJ Marine, said the objective of the Malta Beneteau Cup is to bring together Beneteau owners and friends to a two-day regatta.

To enjoy yacht racing, he added, one does not need to have a strict racer. As long as there are reasonably similar yachts to compete against, and the organisers understand the limitations of all the boats in their fleet, any sailing vessel can participate in a race.
