Premier League club Hibernians will be hosting the 20th Carlsberg Tournament at their stadium in Corradino, starting late next month.

The news emerged from the first committee meeting held by Hibernians who also announced that their team will be playing a friendly against English League One team Sheffield United on July 20. The Blades will be here for a pre-season training camp.

The Paolites, who confirmed coach Mark Miller and his assistant Edmund Lufi for the new season, won the four-team pre-season Carlsberg Tournament last year, beating Birkirkara 2-0 in a decisive match.

The Stripes will not figure in the competition this time and their place will be taken by Balzan Youths as Marsaxlokk and Qormi have again accepted the Hibs invitation to take part.

The tournament dates will be July 27, July 29 and August 1. Kick-off times have again been estab-lished at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
