This year’s Red Bull Kart Fight, a global competition held yearly to determine the fastest amateur kart racer in the world, kicked off at Badger Karting this week with a special event that saw last year’s finalists vying for the fastest time.

Jake Said proved to be the man to beat as the 2013 winner clocked the fastest lap of 29:70 seconds.

The 2014 series will follow a different format from last year, giving two drivers the opportunity to represent the country in the World Finals at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

The juniors category is open to drivers aged 15 by the end of the year. Those who turned 18 at the start of this month qualify for the seniors category.

Qualifying sessions will remain open up to November 23. Participants are urged to book their sessions in advance by phoning on 21-421838/9 or 7942-1838. One may obtain more details via email at karting@badger.com.mt.

The fastest 40 drivers from the seniors category and the best 24 juniors after eight weeks of qualifiers earn the right to figure in the National Finals in December.

The qualifying competition in Malta is supported by Badger Karting and Forestals.
