Ambassador Richard Cachia Caruana yesterday repeated in court his denial that he ever put any pressure for the head of the Security Service to be removed from office.

Mr Cachia Caruana was testifying in the libel proceedings he instituted against Labour Party MP Joe Mizzi over allegations he had made against him.

He denied he had tried to exert pressure on Mr Mizzi when he was minister, via a high-ranking member of the 1996-1998 Labour Administration, to replace the head of the Security Service.

Mr Cachia Caruana said Mr Mizzi had implied that he had been involved in a cocaine party aboard a yacht, which he denied.

The case continues.
