Talks are underway for the San Anton Public Garden to be transformed into “a children’s Hyde Park”, President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca said this afternoon.

Speaking during a conference Familja fis-Socjeta: Sfidi u Opportunitajiet, organised by the Kummissjoni Nazzjonali Familja and the Forum Nazzjonali Familja, the President said Maltese children needed to be able to learn more lifeskills and the park would help them do so.

The president said the gardens would feature a speakers’ corner where the children would be able to express themselves and their opinions, animated reading spots and animated singing and dancing.

She also hoped to be able to provide animal experiences for those who could not have pets at home.

She said there would be wifi in the whole area so that children who could not be coerced off their tablets could at least use them in the garden’s fresh air of the garden.
