With all the fuss about the city and the year of culture, certain items of great national and international importance seem to have been ignored.

There seems to be stupid discrimination against certain events, mainly due to pique and antagonism, but there is one event about which there can never be any justification.

I refer specifically to the 200th anniversary of the death of Nicolò Isouard who died in Paris on March 23, 1818. This would be an ideal occasion to hold an international festival of some of his 40 operas.

What year of culture will it be if an international composer, born in Malta, is not given his due?

There are other events that seem to have been, or are being, ignored. How can Malta retaina small-town mentality based on vindictiveness?
