Last December, I was telling myself that Donald Trump’s administration would not last a month. I was wrong. I have to sit still to see him being kicked out of office by some Democrat candidate with his head in place.

Life could always be worse. So far we’ve learned that Trump’s security adviser, Michael Flynn, talked with the Russians before the inauguration. During the campaign, other Trump associates also talked with Russian intelligence officers... but what about Trump himself? Any chance that he encouraged Flynn to chat with the Russian ambassador about policy before he was sworn in as the 45th US President? Any chance that he asked the Russians to interfere in the US presidential elections and help him win it?

In the furore over Flynn’s resignation, a White House spokesman declared that Trump has made it clear to Vladimir Putin he expects him to “de-escalate violence in the Ukraine and return Crimea”.

The spokesman insisted Trump has been incredibly tough on Russia. What this really meant, however, was that the Kremlin has wasted no time in testing Trump’s resolve.

An artillery barrage on the site of a large coking plant in Ukraine was launched immediately after Trump spoke to Putin on January 28. Ukraine returned fire in the most intense fighting for more than a year.

So how do we keep our cool when our world is overheating with such bombastic personalities on the world stage?

And what about Kim Jong-un, who allegedly organised the murder of his half-brother by poison-needle-wielding women? It is very true they share an affinity for peculiar haircuts and public shows of adoration but, at least, Trump does not have any half-brothers to deal with!
