Reg Davies (December 1) demands an apology from Malta’s Prime Minister as a condition for continuing to holiday on the island. What a wonderful example of sheer arrogance of the Brexiteer. It is Davies and his fellow voters who decided, against clear advice from every ally, business and economic expert the UK has, to inform the 500 million citizens of the European Union that they no longer want to belong.

Having made that decision, with no plan whatsoever on how to deal with the consequences, they now demand to retain every EU membership benefit which suits the UK, while rejecting everything else.

Joseph Muscat simply informed Davies and his friends, in clear and straightforward terms, what the consequences of Britain’s decision to leave the EU are overwhelmingly likely to be.

Brexit should be renamed Project Hubris and Davies can take his business elsewhere. He’ll find it difficult, however, to find sunny climes anywhere in Europe with a different attitude to that of the Maltese Prime Minister; perhaps he ought to try Russia as it is quite warm there in summer. Oh, and Davies should wake up and realise it is he who should be issuing a craven apology, to 500 million Europeans.
