The weekly lunchtime concert series at the Oratory of St Francis in Valletta continues today with a recital of world-famous arias and songs from different operas.

Soprano Andriana Yordanova and her friends, Christine Dalli (mezzo-soprano) and Alan Sciberras (tenor), will be singing excerpts from Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem, La Forza del Destino and Traviata.  The packed programme also includes Saint-Saëns’s Mon Cœur s’Ouvre à Ta Voix from Samson and Delilah, Offenbach’s Hoffman’s Tales and Gounod’s Salut! Demeure Chaste et Pure… from Faust.

Audience members will also get to enjoy some all-time favourites such as Puccini’s O, Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicchi, Lehar’s Vilja Lied and Delibes’s Les Filles de Cadix.

■ Today’s concert starts at 12.30pm. This series is raising funds for the Franciscan church which is undergoing an extensive restoration project. Tickets can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details, phone 7968 0952 or e-mail baroccomalta@gmail.com.
