The first-ever Festival of Modern Composers kicks off tomorrow in Floriana. This edition is dedicated to well-known Gozitan composer Joseph Vella.

The opening concert tomorrow features Vella’s compositions Clarinet Quintet Op. 16, Segments Op. 94 and Charlie on my Mind Op. 144. Friday’s concert includes his Monologo for Violin Solo Op. 32, Duo Concertante Op. 91 and Capriccio for Violin and Piano Op. 62.

Saturday’s concert features the prize winners of the festival competitions while Sunday’s closing concert once again presents works by Vella: Sinfonietta for Strings Op. 36, Concerto Barocco Op. 92 and In Memoriam Op. 96 (Strings).
