People going to Gozo this morning faced a very long wait, with the line of cars for the ferries stretching from Ċirkewwa to Marfa.

As Malta marks Victory Day on a Thursday, many have made the most of a long weekend and have taken the day off tomorrow.

People on the scene said that at one time the road to Ċirkewwa was blocked and people were getting off the buses to walk a considerable distance to the ferries. (See video below).

Part of the problem was caused by a collision in Cirkewwa between a large Wastserv truck and a car.

Several commuters complained that a shuttle service was not being operated by the ferries, a situation also confirmed on the Gozo Channel website.
