Gianluigi Donnarumma is staying focused on Milan as his breathtaking rise sees his name linked with Real Madrid.

The 17-year-old became Italy’s youngest-ever goalkeeper when he replaced Gianluigi Buffon at half-time in last week’s friendly against France.

The 6ft 5in prodigy had already set a similar record in Serie A and wasted little time establishing himself in Milan’s first team, making 30 appearances in Serie A last season and keeping nine clean sheets, including in a 3-0 win over city rivals Inter.

Transfer speculation has inevitably followed and the boyhood Milan fan was asked by Sky Italia about reports linking him with La Liga giants Real Madrid.

“I only think about Milan, to do well and work every day... then we’ll see,” he replied.

His national team debut was yet another highlight in Donna-rumma’s fledgling career, giving him the chance to work with his idol Buffon.

“I thank (Italy coach Giam-piero) Ventura for the opportunity,” he said.

“As for Gianluigi Buffon, we joked during the training but also he gave me very good ad-vice, he told me to have fun.

“It was fantastic.”
