Manchester City have completed the signing of 19-year-old Colombia international Marlos Moreno from Atletico Nacional, the Premier League side said yesterday.

Moreno, who has signed a five-year contract with City, now moves to La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna on loan until the end of the current season.

No fee was disclosed although media reports said City had agreed a deal of some 4.75 million pounds ($6.21 million).

“Marlos is an excellent prospect who has already broken into his national team,” Man. City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said.

Djilobodji is Moyes’s first signing

David Moyes made his first signing as Sunderland manager on Friday with the transfer of Senegal defender Papy Djilobodji from Chelsea.

Djilobodji signed a four-year deal for £8 million two weeks after former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes took charge at the Stadium of Light, replacing Sam Allardyce.

“I’m so happy to join Sunderland, I believe we’re going to do something this year,” the 27-year-old told Sunderland TV.

Coke suffers knee ligament damage

New Schalke signing Coke should miss the first half of the Bundesliga season after tearing knee ligaments on his first appearance for the club.

The 29-year-old has joined the Royal Blues from Europa League holders Sevilla, with the transfer only going through officially on Wednesday.

And in a 2-1 friendly win over Bologna just 24 hours later, he suffered a posterior knee ligament tear which means he will miss several months of action.

“We’re all shocked,” Schalke director Christian Heidel said.

“We’re incredibly sorry about Coke’s misfortune because he had really settled into the squad so well since arriving.”

More injury misery for Monaco’s Falcao

Radamel Falcao faces several weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury after being hurt in Monaco’s Champions League qualifying tie against Fenerbahce.

The Colombian striker, back in Monaco colours after frustrating loan spells with Manchester United and Chelsea, created Monaco’s opening goal and scored their second in a 3-1 win on Tuesday night, helping them through to the play-off round.

But he was forced off at half-time with a muscle injury and on Friday Monaco confirmed that the 30-year-old is set for another spell out.

“Radamel Falcao suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh in the last match which will require treatment, rest and rehabilitation over several weeks,” the club said on their website.

Llorente delighted at Swansea move

Swansea have completed the signing of Spanish striker Fernando Llorente.

The 31-year-old, who was part of the Spain squads that won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, joins from Sevilla after scoring nearly 130 goals in a career where he also played at Athletic Bilbao and Juventus.

“I am very happy to join Swansea,” Llorente told the official club website.

“I have scored goals in La Liga and Serie A, and now I want to score a lot of goals for the club in the Premier League.

“I want to score a lot of goals like Michu. He is a very good player and he did very well here.”

Inter make bid for Gabigol – agent

Inter have tabled a bid of €25 million for Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa, his agent told reporters yesterday.

The Nerazzurri are said to be on pole position to sign the talented Brazilian international who is currently playing for his country’s U-23 side in the Rio Olympics.

“Inter have made an official offer of €25m for the complete economic and sporting rights of Gabigol,” Wagner Ribeiro said.

“For now we want to leave Gabriel in peace. Inter’s is the third official offer that Santos have received for Gabigol.

“When the Olympics finish we’ll sit round the table and resolve his future. We’re calm.”

England players over Euro flop – Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists he did not have to lift the morale of his England players after they returned to training following a disappointing Euro 2016.

Roy Hodgson’s side exited the tournament in the last-16 to minnows Iceland, but their three-week break has allowed James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge to get over the shock.

“They had three weeks’ holiday and they came back pretty well recovered,” said Klopp.

“Of course we spoke about the European Championship but I told them my view.

“Until England left the tournament they didn’t play worse than Portugal, for example, but they didn’t have the time for development Portugal had.”
