I fully agree with what Charles Deguara (April 26) had to say about the new titular statue for Christ the King parish in Paola.

Before a final decision was made on the type of titular statue of Christ the King that Paola should have, the late Dun Ġorġ had made extensive research on the life of Jesus on earth and had also viewed various statues of Christ the King found in different churches all over the world.

To the criticism that used to be made with regard to the original statue of Christ the King, that it portrayed Jesus blessing the world with his left hand, Dun Ġorġ would immediately point out that the statue did not show Jesus giving His blessing but only receiving graces from heaven with His left hand and then spreading such graces all over the world with His right hand.

Has anyone ever witnessed Jesus Christ dressed as a king while He was on earth? With the new titular statue, Paola will have an image of Jesus Christ dressed in the costume of a king.
