Twenty-four students from Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary, Naxxar, joined almost 480 students from 20 EU member states to take part in the latest edition of the Euroscola programme at the European Parliament in Stresbourg.
The students took part in debates on topics such as the environment, migration, human rights, sustainable development and youth employment. During the event the students also nominated and elected their representatives, chairpersons and rapporteurs and voted for or against proposals, just like the MEPs.
The Maltese group also visited the Council of Europe and met Joseph Filletti, Malta’s permanent representative to the council, and attended excursions in Strasbourg and Colmar.
The students were selected to take part in the event after sitting for an exam organised by the European Parliament Representation in Malta. They were accompanied by teachers Amii Bartolo, Adrian Muscat and Piera Xuereb.
