Opposition leader Simon Busuttil is continuing with his negative and destructive policy of being against anything and everything, the Labour Party said.

In a statement referring to a meeting Dr Busuttil had yesterday with a delegation from the Medical Association of Malta, the PL said Dr Busuttil was against the €200 million investment in the health sector and against the transformation of the Gozo General Hospital, which would bring about a better health service for Gozitans.

During his meeting yesterday, Dr Busutil expressed concern at a lack of information on various aspects of the health sector, notably the privatisation of the Gozo hospital and the operation of Bart's school.

The PL said the administration Dr Busuttil used to form part of left behind a badly built hospital that was smaller than the one it replaced and with a shortage of beds. It also left long waiting lists for operations.

The PN also left behind a situation of neglect at St Luke’s and Karin Grech Hospitals.

The investment attracted by this government, the PL said, would mean a positive change, a better hospital environment, more beds, better services and more career opportunities for workers.

While this government was willing to take decisions to address the problem of out of stock medicine, it was evident that Dr Busuttil wanted the sector to remain in the state it had been left in by the Nationalist government.
