The Opposition is concerned about a lack of information on various aspects of the health sector, notably the privatisation of the Gozo hospital and the operation of Bart's school, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said today.

He made his comments as he greeted a delegation of the Medical Association of Malta (MAM) which was making a courtesy call.

Referring to the privatization of Gozo General Hospital, the only one on the sister isle, he said the public had no idea how this would affect them.

There had also been little information on the opening of the Bart's Medical School and how this would impact Maltese students.

Dr Busuttil said he was pleased that the Healthy Living Bill, moved in Parliament by the Opposition, would soon become law, thanks also to government backing.

Dr Busuttil said this was the first bill of its type which focused specifically on combating obesity.

MAM head Gordon Caruana Dingli said he too was concerned by several changes to the health sector and the association was in talks with the government.
