The Prime Minister should do his job and sack Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg at once, the Nationalist Party said this afternoon.
Dr Borg is embroiled in controversy after the Environment and Planning Commissioner highlighted the “devious manner” in which Dr Borg applied for a property permit.
Despite a week having elapsed since the Ombudsman sent a report about the matter to the Permanent Commission Against Corruption, Joseph Muscat had failed to sack Dr Borg.
"This is nothing but political hypocrisy since the Prime Minister is always prepared to condemn others and call for resignations. But when the issue concerns him, he will do his utmost to deviate the issue and drag the matter," the PN said in a statement.
The Ombudsman said it was clear that the planning permit should never have been issued. The least Dr Muscat could do is to suspend Dr Borg until the case is decided by the commission.
The Nationalist Party also called on Mepa to withdraw the permit in question without any further delay.
