Qormi broke little sweat to overcome bottom side St Andrew’s 4-0 in a one-sided encounter at the Tedesco Stadium.

St Andrew’s had made the better start and on 12 minutes Jacob Walker showed great footwork to move past his marker and his firm drive came off the upright.

The stalemate was broken on 17 minutes when Qormi were awarded a free-kick and Clifford Gauci’s cross was met by Ojuola who headed past Kris Calleja.

St Andrew’s reaction failed to arrive and Qormi doubled their lead on the half hour when Djamel Leeflang nodded the ball into the path of Nilsson chipped the ball over the onrushing Calleja.

Six minutes from the break, Joseph Farrugia came close but his low drive just missed the upright.

On the restart, Jose Borg, the St Andrew’s coach withdrew Dale Camilleri and Michael Grima and roped in Eloy Nkene and Kyrian Nwoko as he looked to infuse some fresh ideas.

The Saints looked the livelier side on the restart and on 56 minutes Nwoko’s rising shot just missed the bar.

Qormi sealed the points on 61 minutes when Nilsson’s cross found Clifford Gauci whose shot was somehow kept out by Calleja and from the rebound Leeflang bundled the ball home.

After 77 minutes, Ryan Micallef replaced Yannick Yankam and the Qormi substitute scored with his first touch when stabbing home Emerson Vella’s cross.

Qormi striker Alexander Nilsson was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
