Strong winds and rain battered Israel yesterday, causing power outages across the region and toppling a crane in central Tel Aviv.

The crane at a construction site in Israel's business capital was blown down by the strong winds and fell towards a main highway, causing no injuries or damage.

According to Israeli media, tens of thousands of people remained without power as a result of flooding and trees that collapsed.

The rainstorm is expected to last until Thursday, according to the Israel meteorological service.
