Transport Malta is installing a network of Variable Message Signs and Lane Changing Signs as part of its Intelligent Traffic Management Systems project.

All signs will be controlled through closed circuit television and a Traffic Control Centre that will relay real-time traffic information to drivers.

"The technology will revolutionise traffic management and control as we know it today," the agency said.

A total of 34 Variable Message Signs and 48 Lane Changing Signs will be set up.

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
