I read lately that Toni Abela, the deputy leader of the Labour Party, earned €52,000 over the last two years as a consultant to Minister Joe Mizzi in solving Malta’s transport problems.

I wonder if this money was well spent or whether the people’s taxes were thrown to the wind because, every time I want to take a bus in Cospicua, it is always late or  doesn’t show up.

On Sundays, one has to wait impatiently for a whole hour and not a minute less while I hide my face in shame in the presence of the incredulous tourists.

Besides, when travelling to Ċirkewwa, without exception, the bus gets stuck in a bottleneck around the corner leading to the BOV branch in Mellieħa.

This situation casts doubts on the wisdom of the Prime Minister who has been giving such dubious consultancies to various unsuitable people who, in general, are either unfit or devoid of knowledge, experience or merit for such jobs.

Whither Labour?

Will it be another 20 years of bench warming in Opposition?
