A tremor registering 3.3 on the Richter scale was felt in Malta at 7.13pm sending many people to the social media asking if it was an earthquake or an explosion.

The tremor was registered just south of the island at a latitude 35.799794, longitude 14.485559.

Another four tremors in Malta were registered today, the first, measuring 1.9, at 12.42pm.

It was followed by another at 3.41pm measuring 2.3, another at 5.13pm measuring 2.6 and another at 5.54pm measuring 2.7.
