Mbemba: Newcastle have announced the signing of Chancel Mbemba and hope he will be granted a work permit in time to start the Premier League season at the club. The 20-year-old DR Congo defender was granted governing body endorsement (GBE) at a Football Association panel hearing yesterday, and now needs just visa clearance to launch his Newcastle career.

Zamalek: Egyptian champions Zamalek celebrated clinching their first Premier League title in more than a decade with a 3-2 win behind closed doors at Al Geish on Wednesday. Zamalek had been crowned champions for the first time since 2004 on Tuesday when rivals Al Ahli, who have dominated the league in recent years, were held to a 1-1 draw by Smouha, mathematically ruling them out of the race.

Gonzalez: Paraguay international Derlis Gonzalez has signed a five-year contract with Dynamo Kiev completing his transfer from the Swiss side Basel. The 21-year-old winger started his professional career with Rubio Nu in 2009 and three years later signed for Benfica but was immediately loaned to his homeland sides Guarani and Olimpia for the next two seasons. Gonzalez moved to FC Basel in May 2014 soon after making his debut in Paraguay senior team in Costa Rica and scored six goals.

Mutu: Former Chelsea forward Adrian Mutu has joined FC Pune City as their marquee player for the second season of the Indian Super League (ISL), the club announced yesterday. Managed by former England captain David Platt, the club also signed former Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora.

Fined: The English FA fined third tier Blackpool £50,000 yesterday after a crowd invasion forced the abandonment of the relegated side’s final Championship match against Huddersfield in May. The club were also severely warned about their future conduct. The match at Bloomfield Road was abandoned. in the 48th minute, with the score 0-0, and not replayed.
