Redesigned headphones with better sound quality, comfort and blocking of cabin noise for economy class travellers will be available across most of Emirates’ fleet by the end of next month.
The airline is focusing on its A380 aircraft first, with the upgrade extended to its Boeing 777 planes later in the year.
The new headset’s rectangular shape makes it more ergonomic and premium leatherette ear cushions are more comfortable, which is important on longer flights.
Children will also receive a new design, with larger speakers in bright colours to improve sound quality at a size more suitable for smaller heads.
Emirates currently operates daily scheduled flights between Malta and Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus.
