The lifeless body of a young man was found early yesterday morning by the sea in St George’s Bay, but his identity could not be established last night.

The police said that they had been informed of the presence of the body lying on the rocks by the EF Beach Club in St Julian’s at about 6.30am.

The man, who was fully clothed and appeared to be in his mid-20s, was certified dead when police and medical personnel arrived on the spot.

His nationality is not yet known.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.

Duty Magistrate Miriam Hayman was informed of the case and is holding an inquiry.

This is the second body to be found in the last two days: 68-year old Anthony Azzopardi of Ħamrun was recovered from the sea at the Cospicua dock on Friday, having drowned.
