AZZOPARDI. At Mater Dei Hospital, PIERRE, aged 63 (ex Barclays, Mid-Med and ETC), passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Anna Cremona, his daughter Denise and her fiancé Jure Rejec, his sister Carmen and her husband Norman Cachia, other relatives and friends. BORG. On April 9, at Casa Arkati, Mosta, JOSEPHINE, at the venerable age of 96, passed away peacefully, comforted by the Holy Sacraments. She leaves to mourn her loss her eight children: Vivie, George, Maurice, Dennis, Margaret, Antida, Albert and Martin and their respective families. May the Risen Lord welcome her to eternal life where she will meet her husband Elia and daughter Mary. She will always be deeply missed by all. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joseph and his wife Joyce, Sr Adele, OP, Fr Raymond, OFM, Mgr Robert, OFM, Bishop of Comayagua, Honduras, Doris and her husband Anthony Craig, Mario and his wife Siham, Connie and her partner Dave, Lino and his wife Isabelle, and Paul and his wife Monica, grandchildren, her sister Lilian Bonnici, her in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence on Monday, April 13 at 7.30am for St Pius X parish church, Santa Luċija, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. CASSAR. On April 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, née Borg, of Floriana, widow of Samuel, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Frank and his wife Olwen, Anthony and his wife Doris, and Joe and his wife Sheila, her sister Tessie and her husband Emmanuel, Mary, widow of her brother John, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.30am for the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. COLOMB. On April 7, LUCIA, née Boer, of Sliema, aged 91, passed away peacefully at her home, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her daughters Vicky and Fiona, her sons-in-law Rod and David, her grandchildren Charlie, Jed and Jamie, her special carers Rita and Maria, and her other carers and many friends. GHIRXI. On April 10, at Boffa Hospital, CARMELA, widow of Carmelo, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Anthony and his wife Mary, Mary and her husband Joe, Johnny and his wife Lina, Eddie and his wife Julie, nephews, nieces, her brothers, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Monday April 13 at 8am for Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment in the family grave at the Qrendi Cemetery. SCHEMBRI WISMAYER. On April 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, RENO of Birkirkara, residing at St Paul’s Bay, aged 73, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Deeply mourned by his beloved wife Emily, his children Lidwina and her husband Glen, Etienne and his wife Jeanette, Andre and his wife Bernice, grandchildren Samira, Nora, Teo, Nathan, Sean, Martina and Noah, his brothers and sister, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30pm for Our Lady of the Annunciation parish church, Balzan, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. SULTANA. On April 9, MARIA ANTONIA of Xagħra, passed away, aged 87. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joe and his wife Matilda, Agnes and her husband Gregory Grech, Rita and her husband Joseph Refalo, Frances and her husband Teddy Vella, and Pio and his wife Grace, their children and grandchildren, her cousins and relatives, and clients of Il-Kartell Restaurant, Marsalforn. The funeral takes place today, with the cortège leaving Gozo General Hospital at 4.15pm. Prayers at the Xagħra Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady start at 4.45pm, and a requiem Mass follows at 5pm. She will then be interred in the family grave at Xagħra cemetery. Family and friends are asked to remember her in their prayers. Donations to Arka Foundation, Għajnsielem, as an alternative to flowers, would be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Buses for Assistant Electoral Commissioners

Polling places will tomorrow be open for voting between 7am and 10pm.

To ensure the punctual arrival of Assistant Electoral Commissioners at their assigned polling places at 6am, the public transport service will tomorrow start earlier than usual.

The following buses will depart from outstations at 5am and from Valletta at 5.30 am: 1, 2, 3, 12, 21, 22, 24, 31, 32, 33, 36, 38, 41, 42, 44, 45, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 61, 62, 63, 71, 72, 73, 82, 83, 84, 85, 91, 92, 93, 94, 122 and X5.

Assistant Electoral Commissioners do not have to pay the bus fare if they show the identification tag issued by the Electoral Commission.

Once they deposit the ballot boxes at the Counting Hall in Naxxar after 10pm, they will have a minibus shuttle service to all localities in Malta, also free of charge.

Garden sales

Throughout April, the Msida Bastion Garden is open for sale of plants grown there by Din l-Art Ħelwa volunteers. Garden volunteers have launched an appeal for bric-a-brac and books to be delivered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9.30am to noon. These items are being collected in preparation for the Spring Fete to be held on April 26.
