Armenia: Armenia coach Bernard Challandes has stepped down in the wake of a 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying defeat by Albania on Sunday, leaving the country without a win after four games. “It is written in my contract that we need to get a certain number of points to qualify from the group and in the worst case scenario, I should tender my resignation,” Challandes said. “I think it is fairly obvious to everyone at the moment, why I stepped down.”

Tuchel: Hamburg director of sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer has confirmed the struggling Bundesliga club are keen to appoint Thomas Tuchel as their new head coach. Earlier this month, Hamburg sacked Josef Zinnbauer after just six months at the helm, putting their director of football Peter Knabel in charge until the end of the season.

Jallet: Lyon defender Christophe Jallet looks set to miss at least this weekend’s Ligue 1 trip to Guingamp after suffering a reported dislocated shoulder during France’s 2-0 friendly win over Denmark on Sunday evening. The 31-year-old was forced off the pitch late on at St Etienne’s Stade Geoffroy-Guichard after hurting his right shoulder.

Niguez: Atletico Madrid have received good news with Saul Niguez back in training after a month-long injury absence. The 20-year-old midfielder has not played for Atletico since a 1-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on February 25. A blow to the kidney sustained in that game kept Niguez out of action for four weeks.

Compensation: FIFA has ordered Israeli premier league club Hapoel Haifa and their former player, Ali Khatib, to compensate Palestinian side Jabal al-Mukabbar after Khatib left them without authorisation. Jabal al-Mukabbar, based in Arab East Jerusalem claimed that Israeli-born Khatib, who also played as an international for Palestine, walked out on them in 2012 to join Hapoel Haifa without telling them. A document said FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber ruled Hapoel Haifa and Khatib must pay Jabal al-Mukabbar $113,500.
