Malta Enterprise approved around €143.2 million worth of investment last year, which is expected to generate about 2,500 new jobs, according to Investment Minister Chris Cardona.

He described 2014 as a “very successful year” for the organisation, which approved 94 Maltese projects, 73 of which involved expansion.

Last year, Malta Enterprise focused its energies on consolidating sectors such as medical, pharmaceuticals, aviation and electronics, Dr Cardona said at a press conference yesterday.

It was also involved in coordinating foreign direct investment in the medical, healthcare and higher education fields, including the Barts and Queen Mary University of London investment for Gozo announced last week.
