Transport Malta paid out a total of €25,963.52 for 209 claims lodged by irate vehicle owners following damages due to the bad state of roads between 2007 and last year.

This was said by Transport Minister Joe Mizzi in reply to a Parliamentary question by Labour MP Anthony Agius Decelis.

Mr Mizzi said that the greatest amount paid in any one year, €7,266.17, was paid for 55 accepted claims in 2012. The least amount was €164.10 for 22 claims in 2008.

In all, there were 548 claims, 209 of which were accepted, 264 rejected and 76 were still pending.
