Young Pippa this morning joined her aunt Nadja and grandmother Carmen frying and selling fresh homemade traditional sfineg at St Joseph Band Club in Rabat.

Sfineg are fried puffs of pastry filled with ricotta-based cream and traditionally made on March 19, the feast of St Joseph.

Other traditional sfineg sold today are the savoury ones - filled with anchovy.

They first first started being prepared in Rabat more than half a century ago.
