Xandriku fest – Ngħixu Xandriku fl-Imghoddi, will take place in Xandriku Street, Nadur, on September 13, from 7pm onwards.

Visitors to the event will embark on a journey through the years, reliving this street’s rich history.

A main event will be a street barbecue which will have a French setting in order to remind participants of the years Malta was under the French rule and the presence of Napoleon on the island.

The rest of the street will feature more recent history with exhibitions and military vehicles on show.

During the event, the Kelinu Grima Martime Museum will be open to the public free of charge. There will also be a number of maskarati (carnival costumes) from the Nadur spontaneous carnival on display .

Renowned sculptors and painters such as Lazzru Pisani and Frangisk Saver Sciortino are known to have frequented this street.

Gozitan poetess Mary Meilak was so encaptured by the street’s beauty that she dedicated one of her poems, Xandriku, to it.

Besides the exhibitions, historic characters, food and beverages, there will also be a variety of entertainment, including tombola and traditional games for children.

Also taking part will be the group Viral Vibe Drums.

The event is organised by Għaqda Armar Triq Xandriku, in collaboration with Nadur local council.
