A creativity media laboratory is being set up at St Martin’s Institute of Higher Education, Hamrun, for students reading for a BSc (Hons) Creative Computing at the institute, an affiliate of the University of London international programme.

The lab is supported by Ixaris Systems Ltd, a provider of innovative payment applications, services and technology. It is to be equipped with leading edge technology, which in many cases is still in pre-launch stage. This will enable students and academics to access research and develop innovative projects, tapping the creative aspects of computers.

Graduates of this degree have gone on to follow careers in the computer games industry both locally and overseas, as well as in the creative industry focusing upon the use of technology in the entertainment and advertising industry.

Ixaris is headquartered in London and has research and development facilities in Malta. It employs 150 software engineers and professional staff in various disciplines. The setting up of the lab is part of its ongoing efforts to support the advancement of education in technology.
